Fannie Nthakomwa


Fannie Nthakomwa joined Tilitonse as the Operations Manager in April 2012 and is responsible for overseeing the overall grants management process of the facility. In her position, she deputizes the programme Manager and is responsible for developing and establishing the grant making strategies, guidelines, processes and grant application documents; ensure that grant partners are in compliance with established grant administrative policies and procedures including timely reporting; provide oversight to provision of capacity development support to grant partners, monitoring as well as grant disbursements. She is also responsible for the development of Fannie brings a wealth of experience and knowledge with over Ten years’ experience in governance working with diverse range of partners including civil society, parliament, government and media in Malawi promoting policy dialogue, citizen participation, transparency and accountability.

She has wide experience in programme management, managing donor funded programmes and coordinating multiple projects, grants management and monitoring, and capacity development support to a wide range of organisations and individuals. She has demonstrated capacity in designing effective grant management systems, strategies for programme implementation and capacity development support. Fannie has worked as the Programme Manager for the National Democratic Institute, a US based organisation that supports and strengthens democratic institutions worldwide through citizen participation, openness and accountability in government. The programme was implemented with funding from DFID and USAID and was designed to raise citizen awareness of avenues for citizen participation in local governance, importance and role of local government. Prior to that, she worked as Deputy Director/Program Coordinator at the Swedish Organisation for Individual Relief (SOIR) and as a Project Manager for the Project on Economic Governance that was jointly funded by Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and Department for International Development to increase citizen participation in National Budget and decision making processes.
